scammed...
March 17, 2010
Received a SMS yesterday from my bank saying that my credit card and PIN had been blocked due to a security risk. I called customer service who confirmed that my card had been blocked but were unable to tell me how or where this breach happened. The were going to send out a replacement in five working days but after explaining I had five dollars in my wallet and no other way of getting money they offered to express courier out the replacement card in 2 business days. Hoping it arrives tomorrow because I literally have $6.45 to my name! The local branch manager called today to further apologise for the inconvenience and when I asked if he was aware of how it happened I was told that he's hearing mixed reports that an ATM at another local shopping centre had been tampered with. I always check machines before I use them and only ever use ATMs belonging to my actual bank. Those who setup skimming devices are cunning bastards, they got me and I'm cautious so the devices must be incredibly difficult to detect. I know the ATM so I'll be even more cautious next time. I really have to praise Westpac though, sure it's an inconvenience but their customer service is and has been absolutely superb.
When I first found out months ago that a certain friend found a new partner I was ecstatic for her...then I found out who he was. To go from such a high to such a low in the matter of seconds was a disappointment. Why is it that the awesome girls who deserve the world seemingly always end up with total losers? It sucks knowing stuff and not really being in a position to share knowledge for fear of ruining a friendship. It's a age old question: do you say something? Found out yesterday his cheating arse got dumped - can't help but smile ear-to-ear! Such brilliant news, but I still hate seeing bad things happening to good people.
As part of a Uni project this year we're developing a real world system for a real world client so the subject leaders want us to look professional and business like. I've not had to buy a new suit for a number of years so after Uni on Monday I decided to go shopping to research what's new in the way of suits and visited my regular place for higher-end menswear Anthony Thomas. Sure they may be a little more expensive but their customer service is brilliant (and mum knows the owner!). After explaining my situation and that all my suits are double-breasted I was told they went out about five years ago! What began as a ideas, research and price shop turned into an $1100 spree consisting of suit, two shirts and two ties. Added a new belt from Myer and given I'd blown my budget by around $700 got some new shoes...from Kmart! Our first client meeting is Thursday. So there I'll be dressed in an Italian suit, the most expensive shirt and belt I've ever bought, a fine silk tie matched with $25 Kmart shoes!!!
