testicles and limosuines...
October 6, 2007
I can't believe it has been several months since my last proper entry. There's probably much to report but I won't be able to remember everything. Will write about the things that come to mind and update as necessary if something else pops up.
Mum celebrated her 60th mid-September and we were somehow able to successfully pull off two surprise parties. Actually they weren't surprises as such but rather hide the exact details of who was attending the parties. First celebration was just the four of us having a night out at Crown. Second night was family friends, mum only thought that dinner would consist of dad and some ex-neighbours but we planned to have another dozen or so. Third outing was family, mum was only aware of dads side of the family attending but we organised to have mums side too. I would say this party she was most surprised over as there were tears! My olds and mums twin sister who lives in Queensland will spend a few weeks in New Zealand as part of their birthday present. I wish I had a dollar for every time a family member asked "where's your girlfriend today?", I think they seem a little surprised when I reply with "I'm still playing the field"...it's a good way to get them off my back!!!
My birthday was earlier in September and as per usual the highlight is discovering who remembers and who forgets. Those I see frequently are the ones who forget and those I seldom see, or those I haven't seen for years are the ones who never forget. I would've expected it to be the other way around. A quiet day for me: the best present is a day off work so any more than that is a blessing.
As mentioned some time ago I finally got around to uploading some pictures of Monty. Having a pet again is absolutely wonderful but I honestly forgot about how mum hard work is involved in looking after a pup. Fortunately he's becoming more independent now and we're not constantly having to take him out for pee-pee but still! The little shit still partial to putting his paws in the pond for some reason, and will generally follow up paw insertion with a dunking of the body and face. He still can't be trusted out the front yet, he suffers from VERY selective hearing when he runs off into the court quite unwilling to return under any circumstances. His widdle nuts were removed this time last week and is still wearing his satellite-dish preventing him from licking his wound...it comes off soon...after that he can lick all he wants in memory of what used to dangle there!!! I will link this entry to the Monty album too as the previous entry wasn't an entry as such.
Such a great month with a Victorian team finally winning the AFL Premiership. We can all thank Geelong for their mighty effort in sticking it well and truly up Port Adelaide. Then the following day Melbourne Storm bring home the NRL flag. Both teams won quite convincingly, a bit disappointing considering neither game caused any nail gnawing but still, a win is a win!
It has been a wonderful week in terms of TV with new seasons beginning in the US for their most popular shows. Over the last month some interesting commercials have popped up on Aussie TV saying we'll be showing those shows almost immediately after they've been shown in the US. Crock of shit by the looks of things – Prison Break is three episodes in and House is two episodes in. Thank God for Bit Torrent – no relying on Australian broadcasters. When will they ever learn?
I'll spare this entry from my all-too-common bitch about girls!!! Maybe I'll write something in my next entry...which would sometime around Christmas at my current rate.
Had a huge work party up in the city Wednesday night, attended by a thousand or so. To spice things up we organised a Stretch-Hummer Limousine to cart us up and bring us home. That thing is bloody massive, it's licensed to carry fourteen passengers. The neon lights in the roof, the awesome sound system, multiple LCD screens...the thing goes off!!! The driver was absolutely fantastic too, a down to earth guy not like drivers I've had in the past who treat the whole trip as some serious, pompous event. The actual party is slightly business oriented, but nobody there really cares: they attend only for the free alcohol and three-course-meal! I'm surprised about how alcohol effects some people: decent people during the day mutate into amusing, silly, arrogant, embarrassing, obnoxious individuals by night. You get to see a whole new side to people and that side isn't always pleasant for example the Limo trip home. I don't usually drink as I prefer to ensure everybody remains safe and gets home in one piece, but as an added bonus it allows me to witness and be entertained by people dancing, falling over and saying dumb things!
