end of an era...

I finally submitted my resignation letter. Much to the surprise of everybody who thought I could never actually go through with it! I handed the letter in about five hours ago and already I can feel a slight change in how I feel. There's a part of me that's still wondering whether I did the right thing but by this time next week I'll be over it. I'm actually typing this paragraph with a grin on my face! I usually second guess everything I do in my life but this time I'm at ease with my decision. The reaction from colleagues has been overwhelmingly positive with most offering congratulations and support. I have also emailed some regular customers to inform them, one even expressing "complete shock"! I generally plod through life believing nobody likes me, but after today and seeing and hearing reactions I began to think that maybe a few people genuinely care which was rather humbling.

I'm worried about the weeks ahead in particular the 23rd. I'm absolutely shitting bricks about it. I'd rather not talk about it because I want to crawl into my little hole and never come out until it's all done. For the past twenty years I've dreaded this week and finally it is time. If I survive I'll write more, but until then I'd rather not think about it. Has been a pretty exciting week by my lame arse standards, now I'm about to ruin it...really ruin it.

Second week of uni is finished. I swear there are more international students this year than ever before. Had a tutorial the other day and I was the only Caucasian student in the class. Not that it's any big deal, and I sure as hell don't mind but when I needed to borrow a pen today from the girl sitting next to me she had no idea what I was saying!!! It's a little annoying because sometimes they converse in their own language when we're meant to be working in a group. Suppose I'll have to start learning Chinese just so I can borrow a pen! If anybody knows how to say "Can I please borrow your pen for a sec?" in Chinese, Mandarin, Korean and Japanese can they please let me know for it may come in handy!!!

Should have a nice donation to my bank account in a few weeks thanks to the government. Should I spend or should I save? I just helped the economy with a $100 memory card, and I helped again yesterday with a $9.75 lunch from Subway! Surely it's time to start saving?!!

Oh, I have since discovered that the best way to pass time sitting on the train is to transfer all the TV shows I download onto my Blackberry. Recently I spent the journey watching the latest season of The Amazing Race. Initially I felt a bit stupid laughing at what others may have seen as a guy looking at his mobile but after a while I was thoroughly enjoying the distraction. Next week I'll catch up on some Kyle XY and since Lost is absent this week I'll watch some reruns...and next week three seasons of Sex and the City!!! Should have a 16Gb memory card arriving soon, enough for all my music (thanks Jo!) and a week worth of TV. No longer am I bound to playing Sudoku on the train.

Anybody else reading about Jade Goody? I remember watching her on UK Big Brother and she was an absolute crack up! Now the 27 is dying from cancer leaving behind her two sons. A shit storm was created when she was selling her dying story to the tabloids for millions, the public calling her greedy whilst she only wanted to earn as much as possible for her sons. For some reason it really has struck a chord with me, not because I'm a fan of Jade but here's a young woman my age who has started a young family suddenly facing death. I've lost a couple of family members/friends to this disease which I've written about here...young people shouldn't be dying from cancer. It's so sad.

Anybody else being bombarded with unknown "friends" on Facebook these past few days? Yay, I always wanted to be a friend of a Fish'N'Chip shop I've never even heard of. Facebook is so stupid.

Update: I just realised two days after typing this that I resigned on Friday 13th!!!
