I bought a wrist brace from Sportstek. After the online purchase they sent me an email saying they were out of stock and it would take 6-10 working days before the order is shipped...at the bottom of the email was an email address for support/enquiries. I sent them an email asking if there were any equivalent products...no response. Emailed them again a week later asking if my order was still current because I've not heard anything and received the reply: "Sorry I was on leave - boss says shipment is in Melbourne and we will see early next week". You mean to say only one person answers enquiries and when that person goes away nobody answers emails? It's like having the receptionist at a clinic going on holidays and having nobody available to answer the phone! And your "Boss"...sounds like a work experience kid and very unprofessional. Wouldn't recommend purchasing from them.
Found out last week that one of my close friends is pregnant! Sure, other people I know get pregnant and I'm happy for them but this would probably be the first time I'm absolutely excited for the mum-to-be and her husband...it's such awesome news!!! When she told me she had some news I immediately knew what it was...married for a year so what else could it be?!! Seven months to go!!!
After much procrastination I decided to support the economy and purchase a new Multifunction printer to replace the Canon. While the Canon MP830 was good it cost a bloody fortune to run, would spend $120 on five new cartridges and they'd maybe last 200 pages. Upgraded to the Brother MFC-9840CDW and after only two hours of use I absolutely love it! I mainly purchased it for the LAN/WLAN and built-in print server (I enjoy removing cables). Setup was a breeze (wireless) and I'm impressed with the Brother software that enables the unit to be setup through software instead of fumbling about through the units menu system. It's a little noisy when starting/warming up but the prints so far have been fantastic. Only issue has been the "Brother Driver Deployment Wizard" which keeps crashing, was hoping that distributing the drivers to other PCs in the house would be easy but now it's a little more cumbersome. The cardboard box it arrived in is absolutely massive so I would like to apologise to Greenies out there! All in all very happy!
What is it with big corporations pretending to give a shit about the environment? I'm not tree hugging hippie but it annoys me when companies send out letters informing us that we should change our bills, statements, invoices or whatever to the online equivalent to save paper. Companies don't give a toss about the environment, this is purely a way to save their costs. It annoys me more when companies (like Optus) charge $2.20 to send out an invoice because that's what it costs and they claim to be making no profit on that charge. When they've been absorbing the cost of printing for years and they're only interested in covering their costs why not make the invoice $2.20 cheaper if we choose to direct debit or receive an online bill?
I've now lost my Skype virginity. Last time I used audio/video conferencing software was ten years ago, call (and video) quality is simply amazing now. It's easy to see why so many are jumping from the traditional landline to VoIP technology. Even being an IT person I still find the idea of chatting and seeing someone on the other side of the world in real-time astounding...if only Alexander Graham Bell was around to see how his invention has evolved. I've been using VoIP for some time in my room connected to the fax and only ever made a few 'normal' phone calls from it since I use my mobile...but I might try to encourage the Olds to use it more often...a call to Queensland would only cost a couple of dollars for an hour long conversation, now it'll cost ten cents. I wonder much things will change this decade?
Currently engaged in another Optus dispute in regards to the usage meter. Without boring you they're ripping me off 3088MB, I've already spent an hour disputing the problem with two off-shore operators that cannot understand my problem! Anyway, during the calls they've acknowledged the fault with the usage meter. I laughed when one of them "We understand your frustration and we're prepared to give you a $5 credit"!!! So I lose 15.44% of my monthly download allowance, spend an hour trying to sort out a problem they acknowledge is their fault and they want to give me $5 to make me happy?!! Look my little Indian friend, $5 may be a lot in your country but it wouldn't even buy lunch here. After some heckling the operator kindly doubled it to $10...needless to say I laughed at that offer too. I don't want the money, I just want my download limit reset so I can download all my lecture notes, and, err, lecture recordings so I can enjoy them time and time again! The consultant buggered off and spoke to a supervisor, after initially saying it wasn't possible to reset my download limit he said they would reset it and offer me the $10 credit. I accepted this because of the reset. I've already written a complaint letter and will send it tomorrow. Last time I complained Optus gave me a $300 credit, this time I'm even more pissed off.
