Harry Dunne would've done a better job...

July 15, 2009

Unfortunately by typing this is means I didn't win $100 million a couple of weeks ago. Some lucky prats from Queensland and South Australia won. Winning $53m would mean they could each by their own state, but ultimately who'd want to buy Adelaide?!!

Exams are obviously all over, results due out in a few days. Feeling pretty confident about them all except the exam I thought would be the hardest was the easiest and the easiest the hardest! After exams I still had to work on the group assignment that has been mentioned previously. The lecturer gave us an additional month to work it. The other guy in the group emailed me his part comprising of three pages saying that's all he could do because he was spending the holidays in Tasmania. Needless to say I worked on the other twelve pages, and in the activity log I put that I worked twelve hours on the project and he only worked three! I had to go through and correct his Engrish and replace his diagram with a better one so I would've been better off doing the entire thing myself!

Bit of a surprise about Michael Jackson's death last week. I was on the way to my final exam and was reading the paper on my beloved BlackBerry when the story broke. What a shit-storm that has turned out to be, has there ever been more of a fuss over a dead celebrity. Over a week later poor Michael is still being wheeled around unable to find his way into the ground. Family bickering, accusations flying, poor kids learning their parents are and aren't their parents and even Bubbles the Chimp is missing! Despite the obvious controversy surrounding his life over the past decade one must admit he was one hell of a talent.

Bought some Sony DVDs yesterday at Harvey Norman and they've proven to be very unreliable. I've burned some thirty DVDs and nine have been turned into coasters. I emailed Sony some constructive feedback and they're asking me to send in the remaining DVDs so they can examine and replace them. I have no idea what it'll cost to post in twenty DVDs but can I really be stuffed? The blank DVDs cost $24, I've used over half of them and it'll probably cost me around $8 to send them to Sydney. Think I'll reply thanking them for a response but I can't justify the expense...unless they were going to send out two replacement spindles!

What a couple of weeks it has been in internet-TV land. All the popular shows have finished for the season so now's a good chance to download some of those more conspicuious shows that doesn't screen here. Harper's Island finished a few days ago (still up to episode nine here), that turned out to be a good show! Have watched a couple of episodes of Mental, not bad but a very cheap looking rip-off of House. An unusual I survived a Japanese Game Show, typical Japanese silliness but enjoyable watching American's making fools of themselves. Not too sure about Warehouse 13, think I'll need to see a couple more episodes to make up my mind. I thought The Philanthropist, whilst a good idea, didn't work at all after two episodes. Also discovered Eureka which, going by the pilot, looks like a real charming show! Only downloaded True Beauty last night after seeing a preview on TV, pretty sad and by far the most hypocritical show on television however I'm enjoying wanting to punch the TV every time one of those pretty girls/boys tells us how beautiful they are! The usual's (which I won't bother providing a link for) Big Brother UK is turning a little disappointing after a promising start, and Big Brother US is just plain different...I don't like the HoH thing they do because it becomes more like Survivor.

Got a haircut today, only second time at Just Cuts (reminds me of Mutt Cutts from Dumb and Dumber!)...worst job ever! Only went there because my usual barber was flatout busy and I couldn't be stuffed waiting for thirty. The girl cutting my hair had supposedly been a hairdresser for twenty years and as pleasant and charming as she was her scissor skills (or lack of) were horrible. Then to charge $25 for a 'style cut' is a complete insult. Will get the kitchen scissors out later today and attempt to do a better job myself.

I am sick of hearing about MasterChef. This time next week it'll be over, thank God!

Only two more weeks left of holidays...

Update: Uni results: Pass, Credit and Distinction. Think it's the first time I've ever passed all of my subjects! The only one I was worried about failing resulted in a Pass so I'm a very happy (relieved) chappy at the moment! And it's not two more weeks of holidays it's only one. Damn it!
