back into some routine...finally...

March 6, 2010

First week back for the final year at Uni. After four months of holidays it's nice getting back into and having a routine again. I think I say this every year but four months holidays is a little too long but I should appreciate them because this time next year I'll be slugging it out in a nine-to-five and wishing I was on holidays again!

Did a psych test in one of the tutorials today, first time I've ever done one. A DISC assessment. First time I've ever done anything like that and while I was completely skeptical it turned out to be rather accurate. I was classed as being Dominant, of 180 students in this particular subject there were only four others...so I'm feeling rather special. It's interesting because the test was based on how we feel/act/behave at work...I'm so different at work than what I am in my personal life. If it were judged on my personal life I sure as hell wouldn't be the dominant type! The tutor was also interested that my second highest score (by one point) was Influence, he was saying there aren't too many people like me around...a dominant type who is also big on communicating ideas rather than dictating them. I can't remember but apparently there's another group of people (either Steadiness or Conscientious that I won't get along with too well! I don't know about that but I rather enjoyed learning about different personality types. The tests were done as part of a year long industry project. We're put into groups of five or six and we're given a real-life project from an organisation to work on, develop and present. The tests will help weed out leaders, developers, analysts etc. Looks like I'll be put into a leadership role...which I prefer because I'd hate to be taking orders from some 21yo who thinks he knows everything. Also the test will mean two "Dominant" personalities won't be put together...thank God for that because the other two in our immediate class were absolute wankers. Some mid-20s toss pot who thinks he's awesome because he works as a technical support team leader and another much younger guy who looks and talks like he fudged his test results so he could be called dominant. I REALLY pity the groups who end up with those two as their leaders.

It has been well over a month since my last entry and I really can't think of anything worth while to write about. Not a lot happens in my life as you can probably tell by these mundane entries.

Winter Olympics finished only a few days ago, Australia finishing on two gold and a silver. Can't say I'm a big fan of winter sports mainly because we get so little exposure to them here. However, I enjoy having something different to watch when there's bugger all on TV.

Oh, I was introduced to the joys of Lygon Street again, after well over a decade since my last visit I have ventured back into gangland territory to sample their samplings! Looking forward to going back! Was a little disappointed at the lack of Ferrari's driving up and down the street but I saw one so I was left satisfied...albeit a yellow one!

The olds have gone to Tassie for a month. Am left here with Wendy looking after the house...and Monty! So far they've been gone for one week, I'm counting down the days until their return...not because I'm looking forward to having them home again but because I'm counting down the days until I don't have to iron anymore!

Can't think of anything else to write. Might go to bed.
